Dr Michele Board PhD MSc BSc (Hons) DPSN RGN Dr Michele Board is a Principal Academic in Nursing Older People at the Faculty of Health and Social Science at 蜜桃AV. She has extensive experience in nursing, nurse leadership and nurse education. Dr Michele Board leads the Older 鈥�

Dr Susan Dewhurst is Head of Department and Principal Academic in Exercise Physiology in the Department of Rehabilitation and Sport Sciences. Having previously worked as a lecturer and researcher in academic institutions in Scotland, NW England, Denmark and Rome, and as a Senior Scientific 鈥�

Jane is a Registered Nutritionist and Dietitian and co-leads the Ageing and Dementia Research Centre at 蜜桃AV. Her research is committed to key nutrition-related problems in older adults, especially the complex problems faced by people living with dementia and translation of 鈥�

I am a Professor in the Psychology Department at 蜜桃AV. Prior to coming to Bournemouth in 2009, I held principle investigator and post doc positions at the Cognitive Science Centre at Freiburg University (Germany), a CNRS in Paris (France), a Max Planck Institute in T眉bingen ( 鈥�

I am an experienced Food Scientist and nutritionist and have worked with several large multinational organisations developing new food and beverage products for the European market. I am also company director and partner in a large arable and dairy farming business in West Dorset . I have had 鈥�

Dr Williams is an Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Deputy Head of Department for Rehabilitation and Sport Science. He leads a programme of research work at the interface of Physiotherapy and Biomechanics with a focus on clinical, rehabilitation and sporting contexts. The 鈥�

As Associate Dean for the Student Experience, Joanna works with the Faculty Executive, Department Heads and their Deputies, Programme Leaders, Programme Support colleagues and the Student's Union to support and enhance all aspects of our students' experience. Gladys Yinusa - Post Doctoral Research Assistant

Gladys Yinusa is a Post-Doctoral Researcher and NIHR DEM-COMM Fellow (NIHR ARC Wessex).

Her research cut across organisational culture, participatory action research and learning to develop practice and inform improvements in health and social care systems.

Chantel has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and nursing. She has a passion for humanised practice both clinically and within education practice. Clinically, Chantel has a specialist interest in neurodegenerative diseases, in particular dementia and Parkinson鈥檚 disease. She currently 鈥�

I am a Research Assistant, currently working on the NIHR ARC Wessex funded DIALOR project. My background is working as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, delivering low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (LI-CBT) interventions to adults with symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders 鈥�

I am currently the Executive Dean at 蜜桃AV鈥檚 Faculty of Science and Technology (one of the four Faculties of the University), a role which I have taken up in April 2023, first in an Interim capacity, and from October 2023 onwards in a permanent appointment. The Faculty of 鈥�

After studying at the Universities of Potsdam, Sussex (exchange year) and at the Humboldt-Universit盲t zu Berlin, I graduated with a Diplom (MSc equivalent) in Psychology in 2000. I conducted my PhD studies at the Psychology Department of the University of Birmingham (2000-2004). Afterwards, I 鈥�

Dr Steve Trenoweth has been a mental health nurse for 23 years. He has worked in a wide variety of mental health settings before entering higher education in 2003. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at 蜜桃AV. He has authored several books, chapters and articles in nursing and 鈥�

Biographical Details: I graduated from the University of Southampton in 1993 with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, and from the University of Leeds in 1998 with a PhD in Biological Psychology / Nutrition. Since, I have worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds (1999), University of 鈥�

I joined the Department of Nursing Science after a career in the NHS spanning over 30 years, culminating in the position as Associate Director of Nursing in a large NHS community Trust. As an active professional practice in nursing, at local, regional and national level, my qualifications are as 鈥�

I am a media and cultural studies scholar and research digital media and cultures. I specialise in the tensions and opportunities formed between the technical, social and discursive aspects of multimedia environments and design for immersive, AR/VR and blended applications. I have research and 鈥�

Ashley is a Registered Nurse and academic with experience in the care of people with acute illness, having worked in the acute setting before developing her role as a nurse academic. She is a lecturer in Adult Nursing teaching in units related to anatomy & physiology and bioscience in 鈥�

Sue Green is a Professor and Head of the Department of Nursing Science. A Registered Nurse with clinical experience in acute and continuing care environments, Sue held academic posts at Leeds, Kingston, Hull and Southampton Universities before moving to 蜜桃AV in 2018.

"There are challenges and increased risk of comorbidities faced by the aging population in the UK, particularly in terms of mental and physical health. 听A scoping review of the literature on the experiences of clinical care for older adults with physical health needs who also access mental health services, identified there is a paucity of research that has captured the experiences of clinical care of older adults, for those receiving support from mental health services, with coexisting physical health illness.

The literature review highlights the importance of a holistic approach to healthcare to address the complex needs of older individuals. The review identified a gap in research regarding the experiences of clinical care for older adults with both physical and mental health needs, with the existing literature focusing primarily on community settings and excluding individuals with cognitive impairment. The proposed research study aims to fill this gap by adopting a qualitative approach, using ethnography to capture the experiences and perspectives of older adults, as well as professionals involved in clinical assessments within inpatient mental health settings. This study will include those with cognitive impairment as this is a marginalised group in research and has potential implications for clinical practice and policy"
