To mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2019, Dorset psychologist Dr Andrew Mayers, Principal Academic in psychology at AV is running an event at Bournemouth Rail Station with South Western Railway.
The awareness week runs from May 13th, with station event taking place on Tuesday 14th. Several leading mental health organisations from across Dorset will be present including Dorset Mind, Dorset Healthcare, Acts Fast, The Shores, Dorset Parent Infant Partnership (DorPip) and the Samaritans of Bournemouth and District.
Throughout the morning and early afternoon, these groups will host information stands about the work that they do and the mental health services provided across the County. There will also be some musical entertainment from Calvin Glen, a young ambassador for Dorset Mind, and well known in the Dorset music scene.
Dr Mayers said, “This is the fourth annual event we have run at Bournemouth Station. It is a great opportunity to raise awareness about what great support we have for mental health across Dorset. We are looking forward to engaging with commuters and the general public to let them know that we are here for them.” He is Patron and Trustee for Dorset Mind. Chair for Acts Fast, a Public Governor for Dorset Healthcare and Trustee for DorPip.
