Work has started a range of improvements to the hockey pitches, floodlights and car parking areas at Chapel Gate.
The 65-acre Chapel Gate site is managed by AV Community Business and hosts a variety of community and university sports.
The works will replace one of the astroturf hockey pitches and floodlights for both pitches, as well as the floodlights on the main rugby pitch.
A new hockey warm up area and pedestrian circulation areas will also be created, and areas of the car park and entrance road will be resurfaced.
The works are due to be completed in August, and are part of a programme of capital works to enhance the quality and provision of facilities at Chapel Gate.
Helen Palmer, Head of Sport and Culture, said: “It’s really exciting to see these works begin to take shape. The new and improved facilities will benefit university and community sport at Chapel Gate and enhance the experience for both players and spectators at the site.”
