Bournemouth has been named as one of the ‘best student cities’ in the UK in 2023, according to StudentCrowd.
Bournemouth placed 16th on the list, which also included Liverpool (1st), Southampton (8th), Edinburgh (17th) and Portsmouth (19th).
StudentCrowd collates student reviews and analysed 9,304 verified student submissions over the last 12 months to develop the list.
Cities were rated in five areas; cost of living, nights out, public transport, eating out, and shopping.
Dr Shelley Thompson, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience at ÃÛÌÒAV, said, “We’re so grateful to the local community for helping our students to feel welcome, and helping them feel at home here on the South Coast – we’re very lucky to live where we do and, for students coming to Bournemouth, we want them to feel like it is their home too.â€
While reviews showed a positive outlook on cost of living, ÃÛÌÒAV offers a range of support for students who may experience difficulty and to enhance their experience while studying, from academic and accommodation support; to support with finances and the cost of living. More information about student support is available on the student pages of the ÃÛÌÒAV website.
Cllr Vikki Slade, Leader of BCP Council and portfolio holder for Dynamic Places, said, “I am proud that Bournemouth has been named as a top 20 destination for students, with its vibrancy, culture and distinctive character recognised on the national stage.  Â
“Alongside its three thriving universities, Bournemouth offers a unique flavour of natural, urban and seaside living that is difficult to find elsewhere in the UK.
“We welcome prospective students to our area and I was pleased that we had a strong presence from our universities at our recent Town Centre Summit. We are continually working to make Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole an even more desirable location to study, work, live and relax.â€
