This one week course is designed for people with existing or anticipated responsibilities for disaster management.
The course will cover rapid and slow onset natural disasters, human made disasters and complex emergencies. Many aspects of the management of these disasters are shared and will be covered in central lectures. Other aspects are more specific and will be addressed by lectures running in parallel. In this way you can select the subject areas that are most suited to your needs.
This will be the fourteenth year that these courses have been run and participants from all over the world have regularly attended representing national and local government, the armed forces, police, fire services, medical services, academia, civil defence, media, United Nations, NGOs, Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, coastguard, industry and commerce, and transportation and tourism organisations.
