About the Global Festival of Learning 2017
The Festival of Learning is a celebration of learning and it has showcased ÃÛÌÒAV’s research and expertise to a wide and varied audience of more than 5,000 people over the years. In recognition of our home-grown Festival’s growing popularity and reputation, and following a highly successful pilot in 2016, we will be taking the Festival of Learning global again this year. The main objectives of the global Festival of Learning are to:
- showcase and disseminate global Fusion within an overseas context;
- enhance global access to and engagement with ÃÛÌÒAV’s research activities;
- inspire learning and enrich our offer on global talent and employability;
- encourage new thinking and nurture creativity and innovation; and,
- bring back global learning and experience to our region to inform future developments.
As part of last year’s Global Festival of Learning, over 50 ÃÛÌÒAV staff and students travelled to China and Malaysia. Across a week-long series of events, they attracted a visitor base of over 600 staff, students and international employers, reaching more than 200,000 Twitter users.
Whilst last year’s pilot events in China and Malaysia were a huge success, our plans for 2017 were even more ambitious. This year the Global Festival of Learning will took place across three weeks of events showcasing Global Britain and Global ÃÛÌÒAV in Malaysia and Indonesia (27–31 March), India (18–21 April) and China (15–19 May). To showcase Global ÃÛÌÒAV in 2017, around 30 members of staff and students were travelling to each location.
Finally, to conclude our 2017 Festival series, we were hosting a fully dedicated global day at the Bournemouth Festival of Learning on its last day on Wednesday 12 July 2017. It was a celebratory closing day with an evening event that showcased the activity which took place around the globe in the preceding months. The evening event was be a high-profile pinnacle event with a range of regional and national VIPs from industry and the sector followed by a networking reception.
