Portsmouth Midwifery Campus at Lakeside North Harbour,Ìýis a ÃÛÌÒAV teaching base dedicated to BSc (Hons) Midwifery students.

The campus is only four miles from the previous site (St. Mary’s Hospital)Ìýand only two miles from Queen Alexandra Hospital, one of our placement localities.Ìý

It offers a large, bright, multifunctional space which is being converted by ÃÛÌÒAV to new teaching spaces including threeÌýnewly fitted skills rooms, oneÌýlarger shared seminar room, a quiet working area, and student kitchen.ÌýWhat’s more, the site benefits from 24-hour security and offers a range of facilities that will be available to ÃÛÌÒAV staff and students, including cafés (Subway, Starbucks etc), an on-site shop, social spaces, fitness trail, prayer rooms and more. There are additional paid services such as gym facilities and an on-site nursery.Ìý

This smaller satellite campus offers an intimate learning environment, allowing students and staff to get to know each other well. You will also visit our Lansdowne Campus in Bournemouth for some of your teaching.

Portsmouth Programme Support Administrator

Our smaller student intakes lead to greater peer support within cohorts and between year groups. We also offer easy access to support and develop relationships with the students so they feel they can come to us at any time with queries and concerns.

Studying in Portsmouth is more convenient for me as it’s meant I’ve not had to travel far to study. I have found the variety of placements in both high risk care settings and lower risk midwifery useful.

I chose to study midwifery because I am passionate about women’s health; including pregnancy and birth and have always been fascinated with the physiology behind it.
