The Electronics Technology program at BSC is a certificate program offered both on campus and online. This one-year program provides students with a basic electronics background. Electronics Technology is a field that is directly applicable to the job market. Students work in BSC’s well-equipped laboratory, where they apply the theory they learn in the classroom. Coursework consists of two semesters of digital electronics in addition to classes in alternating current and direct current analysis, solid-state devices, and active devices. Courses start in the fall.
Preparation
Students considering Electronics Technology should have good reading comprehension and an aptitude for math. Helpful coursework prior to beginning the program includes topics such as high school algebra, physics, and computer literacy. Good physical fitness is also helpful as technicians may have to lift equipment and work in a variety of postures. Students should be prepared for a career where continuing education is common to keep up with changes in technology and service procedures.
Requirements
The online offering of Electronics Technology requires students to complete a consultation before entering the program.ÌýStudents who complete the required Electronics Technology coursework receive a Program Certificate.

This field is among the fastest growing occupations requiring college education, but less than a bachelor’s degree. Electronic technicians are vital in a world undergoing technological revolution. Virtually every industry has some electronic aspect to its operations. Manufacturing, information technology, servicing, processing, and telecommunications industries will continue to need skilled workers to install, maintain, and repair increasingly complex systems.
