BSC offering free tuition in high-demand career programs
Published: Jan 18 2023
ÃÛÌÒAV has received more than $315K in grant funding to offer individuals enrolling in a high-demand career program free tuition, fees and textbooks. The BSC In-Demand Careers Scholarship removes the financial barrier to train for an in-demand career as well as provides a bridge for those who have experienced workforce challenges due to COVID.
This limited-time scholarship opportunity is available to those enrolling in BSC classes full or part-time between Jan. 18 and June 30, 2023, in a qualifying in-demand career program. Recipients will have their tuition, fees and textbooks paid up to $6,000 and can begin spring semester classes as early as Feb. 6. Average BSC tuition and fees are $2,571.60 per semester for 12 credits (full-time) so students can potentially have their entire spring and summer semesters paid in full.
“The In-Demand Careers Scholarship is perfect for someone wanting to begin their degree, those with previous college credits needing to finish their degree, and industry professionals looking to upskill with a certificate, associate or bachelor's degree,” says BSC Dean of Current and Emerging Technologies Mari Volk.
The qualifying BSC in-demand career programs align with the Job Service North Dakota In-Demand Occupation List and include Agribusiness, Agriculture Industry and Technology, Automotive Collision Technology, Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Cybersecurity, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, EMT/Paramedic Technology, Energy Services & Renewable Technician, Finance, Financial Technologies, Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), Industrial Automation, Instrumentation & Control Technology, Mechanical Maintenance Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Nursing, Power Generation Technology, Surgical Technology and Welding.
The In-Demand Careers Scholarship is supported with funds distributed by the ND Dept. of Commerce as a grant to the BSC Foundation. The $315,477 in total scholarship funding will be awarded until June 30, 2023, or until funds run out.
